Frankie Brown, a seasoned educator and administrator, is currently the director of admissions and financial aid at Sidwell Friends School (Washington, DC). After a powerful fellowship experience with the Collegiate School Teaching Institute in 1998, Frankie decided to move away from public schools and on to the independent school track.
Her initial experience as a second grade teaching assistant in Riverdale, NY, eventually lead to greater administrative roles as a diversity professional, and then as an admissions director. Frankie is the mother of an athletic and outgoing son whose attendance in private school has become one of the most important inspirations for her work to build equity in our schools for underrepresented students.
Frankie continues to work closely with an arts collective in Chicago that she launched with her high school friends, with the goal of using the arts and culture as a catalyst for community redevelopment. When she finds a few moments of spare time, she takes photographs, writes, and sketches. Frankie holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago. She joined the ALC in 2015.
