The Enrollment Management Association Welcomes New Board Members 2015

The The Enrollment Management Association board of directors kicked off the trustee nomination process this year by specifically targeting leadership in four strategic areas—higher education enrollment leadership, international school enrollment leadership, use of technology and data in admission, and financial considerations in enrollment management. John Kerney, Governance Committee Chair, notes, “I am pleased to say that we have identified four leaders who uniquely distinguished themselves in a competitive search process in the areas identified. Their nominations were advanced by the board in January, and I am confident that they will bring important new perspectives to serve our members better in the coming years.”
Tim Fish, Associate Headmaster, McDonogh School (MD)
Tim leads the advancement of strategic initiatives and oversees admission, technology, student services, diversity, and service learning at McDonogh. Tim is the co-author of an NAIS book on technology leadership and has consulted in over 50 schools and organizations. He served as the founding president of the FolioCollaborative from 2011-13. The FolioCollaborative is a non-profit community of over 85 independent schools working together to improve teaching by inspiring informed conversations for growth. Tim is passionate about transformative teaching, technology integration, enrollment management, and big ideas.
Nicholas Kent, High School Principal, Concordia International School Shanghai, China
Nick has spent the past decade at Concordia International School. Before moving to China, Nick was on the faculty of Seattle Preparatory School (WA), The Bullis School (MD), and The Culver Academies (IN). Having worked in domestic independent schools, both boarding and day, and in international schools, Nick brings a breadth of experience and an expansive perspective to the challenges and opportunities facing independent schools globally. Nick earned his B.A. and M.A. in history from Providence College, where he also was a Division I, four-year varsity letter winner in cross country and track & field. He is currently finishing his doctorate in educational leadership from Lehigh University.
Mark J. Mitchell, Vice President for School and Student Services By NAIS
Mark oversees knowledge creation initiatives supporting more than 2,100 K-12 schools and other organizations in the effective administration of financial aid programs. Mark has authored several articles, book chapters, and blogs and is a frequent presenter at local, state, regional, national, and international conferences on tuition pricing, affordability, and demographic and income trends as well as school financial aid policy and practices. Prior to NAIS, Mark worked as coordinator of new student financial aid at Lake Forest College and as an account executive for Access Group, Inc., a firm specializing in graduate student education financing. Mark earned his B.S. in communication studies from Northwestern University, where he served as assistant director of financial aid.
E. Whitney Soule, Director of Admissions, Bowdoin College
After working with the American Red Cross, Whitney found her way into admission work and spent six years in the Bates College admission office, then spent 11 years at Connecticut College, and has been with Bowdoin College since 2008. In addition to the usual work of recruitment and application reading, Whitney’s work has particularly focused on effective use of technology and data to maximize strategic enrollment planning. Whitney is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) and has presented at national conferences on topics related to change management, leadership, and technology. Whitney holds a B.A. in English from Bates College and Ed.M. from Harvard.
