Who made the decision to change the name?

With input from members, board members, staff, and others in the independent school community, a working group of trustees stewarded a 15- month process that resulted in the recommendation to change our name. The full board of directors approved this name change to The Enrollment Management Association in January 2016.

Who participated in this process?

In addition to our board of directors, and guided by Mission Minded (a branding firm working exclusively with nonprofits and associations), we reached out to a variety of school professionals—heads of school, admission directors, enrollment management professionals, peer organizations, and opinion leaders in the independent school community—to get feedback about the existing brand of our organization. These interviews served as the foundation for our new name and identity.

What does the new logo represent?

Our new logo includes a plus sign that conveys the added value that every school and every school professional can expect when partnering with The Enrollment Management Association or accessing our resources. It also connects us visually to our history—many SSATs have included plus signs over the years!

Is that a new tagline?

Yes! Our new tagline, Yield Your Best, signals the dual meaning and dual benefit of achieving your professional best while also advancing your institution with us. We are committed to developing smart and strategic enrollment practice for the independent school community.


What does this mean for the test?

The SSAT is our gold-standard cognitive admission assessment and is available to all independent schools. It will not change. We will continue to service member schools and families seeking access to our premier admission test and nothing will change in the way that parents access our test registration website, which can still be found at ssat.org.

What does this mean for families?

Families will continue to be served by The Enrollment Management Association’s team of professionals. They will not experience any disruption in the services that they use: test registration, test and application access, and/or all of our application services.

Did anything else about The Enrollment Management Association change?

While our name and logo have changed, our mission remains the same. Members can expect The Enrollment Management Association to enhance the services and resources that we offer so that enrollment leaders can achieve their goals—attracting and retaining students who will thrive in independent schools.

Does this change my membership?

No! Your membership with SSATB carries over to The Enrollment Management Association. All of the benefits and services offered before will continue to be offered under our new name—with even more resources in development to help you achieve your enrollment goals.
