While educational institutions must always operate like businesses, they must also constantly balance pressures that might distract them from achieving their mission. What can schools learn from the business world about strategic planning, especially in terms of setting goals and measuring progress? Viewpoint Trustee Charles Schetter has led a project task force for the past two years through research and planning to develop a competitive positioning strategy for the school. He is a former senior partner at McKinsey & Company; a former member of the Tuck Business School Board at Dartmouth; and president of Smith Douglas Homes, the leading private home builder in Atlanta.
