More Than a Number - Presentation

More Than a Number - Presentation

With Kristen Mariotti, Senior Associate Director of Admission, The Ethel Walker School, CT

In the fall, many schools want to be able to post a high percentage of diversity on their websites. But we as school leaders must be sure that every one of the diverse students on our campus is being served in a way that is equitable and assures retention. The focus of this presentation is on the opportunities that admission professionals have to affect the experience of every student as school communities become more diverse. Explore how unpacking our own ideas of identity can help us to serve students in a more positive way and how professional development that deals with equity, social justice, and diversity can be a positive tool for faculty, staff, and students. This session consists of a short talk on the things that Ethel Walker School has done in these important areas, an interactive exercise, and participant discussion.
