A Community-Based Organization (CBO) is driven in all aspects by its residents and makes vital contributions to the health and well-being of the community it serves. As recruiters, we attend fairs, visit with middle school guidance counselors, and attend PTA meetings. Seldom do we focus on that pool of students that are active in CBOs and who exhibit the qualities, leadership skills, and extra-curricular activities that make them highly qualifi ed independent school candidates. This workshop provides information on the many types of CBOs and the development of a recruitment strategy to build partnerships with them in order to find that “hidden jewel.”
