At schools across the country, tuition levels continue to rise and the number of families requesting financial aid also increases. In this presentation, we plan to explore a few key components in the perceived financial need of families who pursue private education and financial aid:
• The concept of demonstrated financial need - What does it take (on paper) to not qualify for financial aid?
• What perceptions do upper middle class families have about their own ability to afford a private education?
• What perceptions do schools have about what families can afford?
• What steps do we take as admission and financial aid administrators to convince families that a private school education is worth the tremendous investment?
Audience participation at all levels is encouraged in this presentation.
