Director of Admissions, Tampa Preparatory School (FL)
Dennis is an educator and admission professional with more than 30 years of service to independent schools as teacher, coach, principal, marketing director, and now admission director. Dennis began his formal teaching at the Sanford School (Delaware). He joined Tampa Preparatory School (Florida) in 1991 as its founding middle school division director and has taught geography and history there since that time. As an educator, he has two great joys: fostering an appreciation for the diversity of people and their cultures, and educating community leaders about independent schools’ contribution to communities. In June 2011 Dennis was one of nine admission director delegates to be invited by the People’s Republic of China to present to 100 Chinese principals and party leaders at the Nanshan Dialogue on Educational Reform. China’s new slogan “Not Made in China, But Created in China!,” provided him with an opportunity to speak about the independent school movement in the United States and how our schools could provide the Chinese educational system with possible avenues toward their planned reform. Dennis holds degrees in classical history and the history of ideas from the University of Delaware and Johns Hopkins University.
