Director of Admission & Financial Aid, St. Mark’s School of Texas (TX)David Baker
David began his career at St. Mark’s School (Texas) in 1984 as coach of the debate team. He coached debating and taught public speaking for the 16 years prior to his appointment as director of admission. Under his direction, the St. Mark’s debate program was named one of the 10 most successful programs of the 20th century. His debate team won the high school National Championship in 1990, and David was elected in 2003 to the National Forensic League Hall of Fame. The award presented annually by the National Debate Coaches Association to the most outstanding debate team in the United States is named in his honor. During his tenure as director of admission at St. Mark’s, applications for admission have increased significantly and the ethnic diversity of the student body has increased by more than 20 percent. He is also the 8th grade class sponsor and varsity upper school golf coach. David serves as a faculty member for our Admission Training Institute and has served as president of the Independent Schools Admission Association of Dallas. David holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's degree from Southern Methodist University.
