Marcia SpillerSenior Vice President for Academic and Student Life, Woodward Academy (GA)

Marcia, vice president and dean of academic affairs at Woodward Academy (Georgia), brings to our board a wealth of experience in schools and in the wider independent school community. Before Marcia moved to Woodward, she served as head of The Children’s School (Georgia), a position she held from 1990 to 2012. Beyond her current role at Woodward, Marcia conducts seminars and workshops on diversity, multi-cultural curriculum, and teacher training. She serves on the board of the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). She also works with SAIS and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to accredit independent schools in the southern US and Latin America. Marcia previously served on the board of the Elementary School Heads Association and as chair of the board of the National Association of Independent Schools. She is a graduate of Fisk University and received her graduate degree from Georgia State University.
